Garrett in Italy, Texas. He attended Mayflower Elementary in Tatum, Texas and he moved to
Italy, Texas and attended Italy High School class of 1974. After graduation, he joined the
Army where he served for 4 years.
He worked for Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) for over 20+ years
Loved one preceded him in death are, father Hivertis Garrett, mother Rosie Mae Garrett,
grandparents Lowell (Daddy Shorty) Anderson, and Essie B (Momma B) Anderson, brother
Keith Garrett, Lawrence Dean Garrett, Sister Sherry Ann Ward.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his first and only love, his daughter Akeelah
Batiste-Garrett, best friend for over 20 years Junelle Batiste, stepchildren Gabrielle Batiste,
Kierstyn Batiste. The Matriarch- Esther Mae Burnley (Momma), (3) Roslin, Hira, Joyce
(Andrew), (4) brothers, Edwin (Alma Jo), Reginal, David (Deborah), Bernard. His best friends
Darryl Hughey (Felicia), Jonathan Ratcliffe (Lois), and Issac Hines, who have stood by his
side for many years. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
