Melvin Havely

Melvin Havely 1942- 2023 Melvin Havely, 80, of Slater, Wyoming, passed away on July 14, 2023, with family at his side valiantly enduring multiple sclerosis. Born December 19, 1942, in Wheatland, WY, to Herbert and Leona Havely, Mel graduated from Chugwater High School in 1961 & married Barbara Ross from Gering, NE in 1962. The couple proudly farmed and ranched; Mel was also a 2-term county commissioner & Pillsbury grain broker. Mel loved books and sharing good conversation. He was predeceased by his parents, five siblings & other cherished relatives. He's survived by wife, Barb; son, Kelly; daughters, Candace & Crystal (Marc) Stratton; granddaughters, Madalynn & Macey Stratton; and sisters, Gladys (Zane) Geis, Wilda Edwards & Dorothy Fernandez. A private service will be held. Melvin generously donated his brain for MS research; in lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the National MS Society or Davis Hospice in Cheyenne, WY.
