Stenshoel-Houske Funeral & Cremation ServiceMelvin Martin Larson passed away on January 19, 2026, at the age of 88.
Melvin, a lifelong resident of Crookston, was born on June 21, 1937, at Bethesda Hospital in Crookston, Minnesota, to Martin and Clara (Hoiseth) Larson, both lifelong residents of Crookston. Melvin spent his entire life on his family farm east of Crookston. Melvin attended a one-room schoolhouse for his first 8 years of education, then graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture (AC) in 1955. While at the AC, he was on the swim team as a swimmer and diver, and participated in 4-H. After he graduated, he returned home to the family farm, where he proudly worked until his death. Melvin was also a member of the Minnesota National Guard for six years, sold crop insurance, and was a member of Trinity Church. Melvin loved the water, and swimming at a younger age was his favorite thing to do. As he aged, he enjoyed his vacations down south, sitting by the ocean for hours listening to the waves.
Melvin was married to Pat (O'Boyle) Koza on February 24, 1961. Melvin and Pat had four children and had many travels with their family while they were married.
Melvin married Barb (Boucher) on June 17, 1988. They were happily married and continued to live on the family farm until his death. Melvin and Barb spent many years traveling to Florida and enjoyed their travels.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Barb Larson; children, Kevin (Carrie) Larson, Colleen (Gary) Hall, Heather (Shane) Snesrud; step-children, Brian (Heidi) Laliberte, Jeff (Jessica) Laliberte, Kristi Laliberte; grandchildren, Caila (David) Still, Justin (Hayley) Larson, Taylor (Lance) Larson, Ashton (Jacob) Sylvester, Zachary (Sara) Hall, Alex (Jenna) Hall, Aidan, Molly, Brendan, Cale, and Clara Snesrud, Rocky (Alie) Raffle, Savanah (Rory) Waliser, Sydney Glover; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Clara Larson; sister, Lil Ellis; son, Michael Larson; and many other beloved family members.
Graveside services will be held at Oakdale Cemetery on July 18, 2026.
