BAY - Melvin Mink, 86, passed away April 14, 2025. He was born in Bay on March 24, 1939, to Alton and Ruby (Davis) Mink.
Melvin graduated from Bay High School in May of 1958. He married Joyce Norwood Sept. 5, 1958. Melvin spent several years in the National Guard, had various jobs but was most known for farming and truck driving before he finally retired. He lived all his adult life in the Bay area and was a member of Viva Drive Church of Christ in Trumann.
He is survived by his son Derrick (Vickie) Mink of Bay; daughter Vicky (Freddie) Lee of Hardy; grandson Brandon (Sarah) Mink of Lake City; granddaughters Felicia (Stephen) Walsh of Bay, Meghon Mink of Bay; great-grandchildren Baylie Walsh, McKenzie Walsh, Ayden Walsh, and Teagyn Mink all of Bay; brother James (Evelyn) Mink of Barboursville, Va.; sisters-in-law Betty (Quenton) Fletcher of Trumann, Sue (Jack) Spencer of Galena, Mo., Barbara Busby of Huntsville; brother-in-law Larry (Beverly) Norwood of Bay, as well as several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sister Judy Hunt, brother Jerome Mink, mother-in-law, father-in-law, one brother-in-law, step mother, and seven step-siblings.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 17, at Viva Drive Church of Christ in Trumann from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate his life will start at 12 p.m. with Minister Joe Spangler officiating and song leader David Byrd. He will be laid to rest in Oaklawn Cemetery following services. Services will be under the direction of Gregg Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Joey Spangler, Greg Smith, Mitch Sparks, Carbert Rodgers, Craig Rains, and Mike Conatser.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Viva Drive Church of Christ or Children's Home of Paragould.
Though we are saddened by his loss, we rejoice in the victory we have in Christ as His followers.
