Melvin Eugene Morehead was born on August 27, 1949 at St.Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA. Melvin was born to the union of his parents George William Morehead and Mildred Alexander Morehead. He passed from this life on March 26, 2025 at Willis Knighten Medical Center in Shreveport following a brief illness.

Melvin served in the United States Navy. Melvin worked in the oilfield as a driller for ODECO for 10 years. He also spent 20 years driving all over the south as a truck driver. Melvin loved the outdoors, and gardening. His greatest love in his life was spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, George W. Morehead and Mildred A. Morehead and his wives: Ramona A. Morehead and Jeanie Morehead; his brothers: George (GL) Morehead, Billy Joe Morehead, Steve A. Morehead and Michael R. Morehead; Sisters: Virginia (Ginny) Morehead and Sherri L. Morehead.

Living siblings: Brother Richard A. Morehead and wife Deanna, sister: Cathy M. McGuire and husband Aryon

Left to cherish his memory: Sons: Chad D. Morehead and wife Grace; John D. Morehead (JD) and fiance' Jasmin. stepchildren Derek Sims and wife Angel and Denise Sims. His grandchildren; Bre Roe and husband Brandon, Ceara Hinton and Sid, Nick Morehead and Sage Morehead.

Four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He found joy in the mechanics of automobiles, spending countless hours tinkering and restoring cars. Countless nights at drag racing with Chad. He also spent many weekends with JD preparing for hunting season. Always stopping for snacks, occasionally he would sneak a candy bar and always drank his entire Coca-Cola before anything continued. We remember him ten-feet tall and bulletproof~ Melvin was a member of a 12-StepProgram for 9 years. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation and sincere thanks for all the friendships made.

The Morehead Family honored Melvin's wishes and chose cremation.
