null Mosley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sconiers Funeral Home - Columbus on Jan. 23, 2026.
Melvin Mosley, 86, of Columbus, GA passed Thursday, January 22, 2026, in Carrollton, GA. Born to the late Lester Mosley and Agnes Mosley, Melvin served his country with pride as a U.S. Army solider.

In 1963, after graduating from high school at the age of 18, Pastor Mosley joined the United States National Army. He served on the front line as a US Army Combat Medic during the Vietnam War, caring for wounded soldiers. He was also a hospital attendant at the Tuskegee Veterans Administration Medical Center. He served 13 proud years in the army, receiving his highest rank of E-6, Staff Sergeant (SSG), before he was honorably discharged in 1976. Pastor Mosley continued a career in the medical field working as a medical coder before retiring.

From his first marital union with Dorothy E. Scott three sons were born, Melvin Mosley, Rochee Mosley and Patrick Mosley. Dorothy Mosley preceded him in death. His last and final union was with Rose Marie Mosley who also preceded him in death.

Wanting to fulfill his calling, he devoted his life to serving the Lord and pastoring the Church of God of Greater Columbus for 25 years. He always showed great faith in the Lord and never wavered in his beliefs. His favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6 and favorite song was Be Strong and True.

His legacy includes: three sons, Melvin (Demetra) Mosley, Rochee (Leteishia) Mosley and Patrick (Glenda) Mosley all of Milledgeville, GA; one daughter, Jennifer Lynn Mosley, who preceded him in death; six step-sons Edwin Oliver Whitted, James Docks, Darian Docks, Anthony Docks, Derrick Docks and Andre Docks; two brothers, Marvin Mosley of Columbus, GA and James Mosley of Elmira, New York, 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. He also leaves behind a very dear and devoted friend, Pastor Abraham Burton and a loving and devoted granddaughter, Patrice Mosley, and a host of relatives.
