Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holman-Howe Funeral Homes Lebanon on Jan. 13, 2026.
Melvin Eugene Stockdale was born February 4, 1962 in Springfield, Missouri to Harold A. and Mary Ellen McElwain Stockdale. He passed away early Tuesday morning, January 13, 2026 in his home in Lebanon, Missouri. He was sixty-three years, eleven months and nine days of age.

Melvin grew up in Springfield and attended Springfield schools. He was employed with the Zenith Corporation for several years and for Reliable Chevrolet in Springfield where he specialized in auto body repair. He worked security for Starz Night Club and was a mechanic for Blue's Tool and Saw. He retired in 1995.

On January 8, 1993, he married Alice Marie Curbow. They had just celebrated thirty-three years of marriage.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Ellen; two grandchildren, Heaven Stockdale and Richard Hahn; his brothers, Leonard, Dean and Jerry Stockdale; and his sisters, Lois Messina and Janice Rose.

He is survived by his loving wife, Alice, of the home; two sons, Melvin D. Stockdale and his wife Latosha of Springfield, Missouri and K.C. Hahn and his wife Treasure of Wheatland, Missouri; two daughters, Amy Stockdale and her husband Steve of Cross Timbers, Missouri and Carra Scroggins and her husband Will of Caldwell, Idaho; fourteen grandchildren, Jaydon, Gracie, Kaylee, Dayzee, Kelly, Arlo, Charlee-LaVell; three sisters, Velma Ortiz of Kansas City, Kansas, Evelyn Masten and Suzie Jones both of Springfield, Missouri; a brother, Bobby Stockdale of Springfield, Missouri; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

After Melvin retired, the couple moved to Lebanon where he greatly enjoyed being outdoors in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks. He liked working in the garden, fishing and hunting. He also was an old car buff and worked on many vintage cars. Melvin also looked forward to building bonfires and having family time, as well as quiet time, sitting around the fire. He also had a talent for playing the guitar.

He loved his dogs, Buddy, Shadow, Mamas, Coco and Little Grace. He was proud to be a supporter of ASPCA, an organization to help animals, and to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Haz loved and cherished his Hazzard, children and grandchildren. He was a caring and trusted neighbor and friend and was a good man who loved and trusted God. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them.
