Melvin Dale Wright

Melvin Dale Wright, 73, of Cabot passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026. He was born October 19, 1952 in Dewitt to the late Melvin James and Joan Bracewell Wright. Dale grew up as the son of a professional baseball player, which fostered his lifelong passion for the sport. His love for baseball was evident not only in his years of playing, but also in his dedication to coaching. In the early 1990s, Dale coached American Legion ball in Cabot, leaving a lasting impact on young athletes and the community. Beyond baseball, Dale enjoyed duck hunting and was known for his love of good food and lively conversation. Every experience in his life became a story, and Dale was renowned for sharing those stories with his strong, distinctive voice. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a step-son, Chris Butler.

Left to cherish Dale's memory are his wife of 40 years, Annette Bain Wright; daughter, Tara; step-children, Chad Butler (Heather) and Nicole Hutcherson (Jake), all of Cabot; grandchildren, Wesley Butler, Eli Hutcherson and Talan Hutcherson and siblings, Kathy Smith (Ted) of Jacksonville and Steve Wright (Sandra) of Tifton, Georgia.
