Obituary of Merle Allen Vaughn
Merle Allen Vaughn, beloved Son, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, went home to Heaven, on April 22, 2025 at the age of 83. He passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Hospital, after an unexpected illness.
Merle Allen was born on April 26, 1941 in Ontario Oregon to Merle Ora Sr. and Betty Ruth Vaughn. Merle was the oldest of the brothers, followed by Robert Dean, James Charles, and Steven Ray.
The Vaughn family lived most of their life in the pacific northwest. Living in Washington state and Oregon, until they finally came to California in 1949. In 1956 at the age of 15, Merle and the family moved up north to the Salinas Valley. Merle attended and graduated from Salinas High school in June of 1960. After receiving his high school diploma, Merle attended Hartnell College in Salinas, Ca. where he received an Associate of Arts degree prior to serving in the United State Army. After his military service, he returned to the Central coast to reside in Prunedale, California.
In the late 60's, Merle moved to the Santa Clara County area and worked and attended Deanza college in the electronics field. He worked for Barrett Electronics as well as the Memorex Corporation. In 1978, Merle began a career as a field technician for the Stanwick Corporation under a US Geological Survey contract, which brought him and his family to San Benito County, where he worked and lived for 18 years.
Merle retired in 2006 as an Engineer with Allied signal/ Honeywell Inc. in El Cajon California. Upon retirement, Merle returned back to San Benito County to live closer to his family. In Merle's retirement he enjoyed Aviation. He developed several friendships at the Hollister Municipal Airport, and he enjoyed flying at home on his flight simulator, as well as flying locally with friends.
Merle is survived by two of his three brothers, James Charles and Steven Ray (Fe) Vaughn. He is also survived by his daughters Mary Roascio (Ryan), Joeann Vaughn, and Corrine Zorra (Steve). His Grandchildren Adrian Galvan, Emily Solano (Will), Molly Solano, Edward Zorra, and Emilia Zorra. He also has Great Grandchildren Cora Solano-Gaspar and Iris Guerra Galvan, as well as his nieces Denise Van Loon (Mike), Jenny Vaughn., and nephews Mike Vaughn (Meghan), Monte Vaughn, and Joseph Vaughn. As well as many Great nieces and nephews.
Family will be holding a private celebration in the near future.
