Merlene Harris

Funeral services for Merlene Harris will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Riser Funeral Home in Olla, Louisiana with Bro. E.R. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Pinehill Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Dorothy Merlene King Harris was born June 15, 1940, in Glenmora, Louisiana, to the union of her parents, Hiram "H.H" King and Lessie Cotten King and she passed from this life September 30, 2025, at LaSalle Nursing Home in Jena, LA.

Merlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a very classy and Christian lady. Merlene enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and crocheting. She also enjoyed being outside gardening, working with flowers, and watching the hummingbirds. Merlene and Ikey traveled all over the world and made lots of memories. In Merlene's down time, she enjoyed scrolling through FaceBook and watching Saints football.

Merlene was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Vicki Wells; husband, Melvin Wells; sisters, Mary Arnold and Glenda Griffin; and two precious twin granddaughters, MiKala and MiKenzi Wells. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ikey Harris; son, Randy Wells (Lori); daughter, Brenda Gremillion; grandchildren, Ethan Wells (Stephanie) and Lennie Bordelon (Trent); and great-grandchildren, Jesse Wells, Raelynn Wells, Mason Bordelon, Logan Bordelon, Austin Richmond, and Alex Richmond.

Pallbearers will include Ethan Wells, Mason Bordelon, Jeff Wells, Alan Sanders, Rob Laird, and Johnny Smith. Honorary pallbearer will be Dale Cox.
