BURNETT - Merlin H. Pieper, age 91 of Burnett, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Clearview Long Term Care & Rehab.

Merlin was born on October 27, 1933, the son of Ervin and Leona (Woock) Pieper, and lived in Burnett most of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in London from 1954 until he was honorably discharged in 1956. He held several jobs before working in the Highway Department at Dodge County, from where he retired after 35 years. He continued to serve after this, plowing snow for the town of Burnett and volunteering for the Burnett Fire Department. He also took pride in helping the Nitschke Brothers Farms, plowing in the spring and doing fieldwork in the fall. A talented musician, Merlin played in the Don Peachey Band during the 1940s and 1950s and was an avid listener of The Barn Show. He also had a knack for woodworking and enjoyed fixing lawn mowers and going fishing. He had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling with his friend, Darlene Budde.

Merlin is survived by his children, Pat (Andy Kenowski) Sommers of Lomira and Robert (Nan) Pieper of Sun Prairie; grandchildren, Amanda (Austin) Field, Michael (Kjersten) Schuler; sister, Janice Pieper of Burnett; sister-in-law, Ruth Pieper of Burnett; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, LaVern; nephew, Craig; special friend, Darlene Budde; and other relatives.

Visitation for Merlin will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton, with Military Honors provided by the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146.
