Merrilyn Fooshee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Springs Funeral Services-North - Austin Bluffs on Jan. 28, 2025.
Merrilyn J. Fooshee, 75, of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025. Born in Grand Island, Nebraska on March 10, 1949, to Merrill and Jane Anderson, Merrilyn moved with her family to Colorado Springs in 1954, where she spent the majority of her life. Merrilyn was married to Ricky L. Fooshee for 25 years, and together they raised four children: Richard, Amiee, Jon, and Michael. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose joy, kindness, and faith touched the lives of everyone she met. Merrilyn had a deep love for the outdoors, frequently visiting her favorite spots such as the Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Canyon, and White House Ranch/Rock Ledge Ranch. She found peace and joy in hiking, camping, traveling, running the Pikes Peak Marathon, and touring across Colorado on her motorcycle. Merrilyn's heart was also dedicated to serving others. She worked closely with the elderly, bringing comfort and joy through her music, as an accomplished guitarist, writer, and singer. She shared her passion for Jesus and her uplifting spirit with residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the area for many years. As a business owner and musical entrepreneur, Merrilyn's work was an extension of her life's mission to connect with others. Her selflessness and tireless dedication to helping those in need made her a beloved figure in the community. Merrilyn is preceded in death by her son, Michael, and her grandson, Jacob. She is survived by her children Richard, Amiee, and Jonathan and her siblings Bob, Jim, Art, and Susan, her grand children and many cherished friends and extended family. A memorial service to celebrate Merrilyn's life will be held on February 22nd from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Heart of Worship church, 3445 Parkmoor Village Drive in Colorado Springs. Merrilyn's light, faith, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but forever remembered.
