Michael Lawrence Alcantar, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas to Stella and Rudolph Alcantar. Michael was the third of nine children. From an early age, he embraced responsibility, helping support his siblings by working in the Vander Wally fields and managing a paper delivery route. After graduating from Kennedy High School, he answered the call to serve, joining the U.S. Marine Corps and serving honorably during the Vietnam War.
After his service, Michael began his career at AT&T and started a family in California, where he welcomed three children. His love for his children was steadfast and immeasurable. Later, he returned to Texas, where he found love again with his wife, Eva. Together, they built a life centered on love and dedication to family. They welcomed three more children as Michael resumed his career with Southwestern Bell, exemplifying his role as a hardworking provider and devoted father.
Michael loved filling his home with warmth, laughter, and the cherished company of family and friends. His wild spirit and quick wit brought joy to everyone who knew him. He faced life's challenges with unmatched strength, humor, and faith, consistently defying expectations and inspiring those around him. He took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, cherishing each of them deeply and celebrating their achievements with boundless love and joy.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Eva Nestor; his children: John Anthony, Jacob, Shawna, Christopher, Ariel, and Elisha; his siblings: Walter, James, Laura Knudsen, Richard, and Kathryn; and his grandchildren: Kiah, Jade, David, Ahyasha, Benjamin, Jordan, Anthony, Abigail, Nolan, John Jr., and Wyatt. He is also remembered by his extended family and many friends, who will forever hold his memory close.
His legacy is one of perseverance, selflessness, and a profound love for those he held dear. Rest in peace, Michael. You will always be remembered, loved, and deeply missed.
