Michael Anthony Alexander

Michael Anthony Alexander, 66 of Daytona Beach, Florida passed away on January 4, 2026. Originally from Amityville, New York, he was born on August 22, 1959, to Arnold and Filomena Alexander.

From a young age, Michael wanted to be a hero. He served as a mortarman, training noncommissioned officer, and squad leader in the United States Army Reserves from 1979 to 1981. He later worked for the Los Angeles Police Department and began his service with the Daytona Beach Police Department in 1995. After retiring in 2013, Michael continued serving as a reserve officer and special events officer, most recently returning in July 2025. His devotion to public service was only overshadowed by his love for his wife, Elaine Florio-Alexander, and their daughter, Christina Alexander.

Michael was a man of many interests and passions, including weightlifting, wrestling, football, music, and history. He loved to read whether comic books or novels, his warmth and intelligence were recognized by everyone who crossed his path.

Michael is reunited with his beloved wife, Elaine, and is survived by their daughter, Christina.

A memorial Mass for Michael will be held at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4675 S. Clyde Morris Boulevard, Port Orange, Florida 32129 on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. The Mass will be open to the public and followed by a reception where family and friends may share cherished memories of Michael.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations may be made to the American Heart Association to help combat diseases such as congestive heart failure.
