Michael Paul Allen, 73, passed away on December 15th, 2025. Michael, a long-time resident of the Kansas City area, was born on April 12th, 1952 at Elmendorf Air Force Base, AK to Paul F. and Janet L. Allen. Growing up in a military family, he moved frequently in his early years and saw much of the country as a result, graduating from Kailua High School in Honolulu County, HI in 1970. Known as ‘Mike’ to his family and friends, he was confident and outgoing, and always made a lasting impression on people who met him. He worked many jobs throughout his life, but often recalled fondly his time with the Internal Revenue Service throughout the 1980s.
Mike’s Air Force childhood inspired him with a lifelong love of military history, especially of the American Civil War era. He also had a great fondness for art, particularly sculpting. He eventually combined these two passions to create his own line of American Civil War figures known as Mike Allen Miniatures, which went on to adorn the shelves of many gift shops and private collectors alike across the United States. But Mike’s greatest pride and joy was easily his son James, whom he referred to affectionately as ‘Jim’, and whom he loved unto the end. He will be very dearly missed.
Michael is survived by his son, James S. Allen, his mother, and his sisters Theresa Wilson (Thomas) and Barbara Houseworth (Thomas), as well as several cousins, nieces and a nephew.
Michael was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
