Michael David Andrews, 84 passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, mother, Helen Newton and father, Mark Andrews.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judith Andrews, sons, David Andrews and Matt Andrews and two brothers, Mark and Peter Andrews.
Michael was born in Dover, New Jersey but moved to Orange, Virginia when he was 8 and lived there until he went to college. He is a 1965 graduate of University of Richmond where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He started his career as a teacher in Smithfield, Virginia where he taught for 4 years. He then changed his career into the Parole and Probation Officer in District 6 in Suffolk, Virginia. He soon became the Chief and retired in 2003.
He was a member of Benn's United Methodist Church as a longstanding member and was very active until recent years. He also was a member of Smithfield Jaycees and was past president in the early seventies. He also was a member of Possum Ruritan Club where he served as Treasurer in past years. He also helped start soccer in Isle of Wight and had the Nike Park as sponsor and helped get soccer into the Smithfield High School.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20 at Benn's United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM, with a reception afterwards in the Family Life Center. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
