Michael Joseph August, 74

Michael "Mike" Joseph August, age 74, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away on September 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family and friends. He was born in Spokane, Washington, on March 13, 1951, to Patricia Schroeder August and Tony August.



Mike grew up in Spokane and carried with him a lifelong appreciation for the beauty of the Northwest. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist, where he honed both technical skill and a strong work ethic.



Following his honorable service, Mike built a long and successful career. He began at Joey August Distributors, Inc., the family beer distribution business he was proud to be part of. He later moved to Coeur d'Alene, where he continued his career with Panhandle Distributors, Vintner's Company, Northern Beverage, and The Odom Corporation, where he excelled as a beer and wine salesman until his retirement. Mike's charm, drive, and professionalism made him a legend in the industry.



He had a deep love for his Italian heritage, which shaped his dedication to family, tradition, and connection. Mike also loved good food, especially cooking his famous August family spaghetti. He took pride in maintaining his home and beautiful yard, reflecting the care and dedication he brought to all aspects of life. A man of faith, his beliefs guided and strengthened him. He was known for his sense of humor, love of sports, and feisty, go-getter attitude. Blessed with the gift of gab, he could talk to anyone about anything-and usually did.



Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Vogel. He is survived by his brother, Scott August of Spokane, Washington; his children, Marcus August of Walla Walla, Washington, Jessica August of Post Falls, Idaho (and her partner, Jorge Armenta), and Breanna Wilson of Athol, Idaho (and her husband, Jason Wilson); and his cherished grandchildren, Jaxton, Wyatt, and Olivia, who brought him immense joy.



Per his wishes, no memorial or funeral services will be held. His ashes will be spread at Silver Beach on Coeur d'Alene Lake, one of his favorite places. A memorial website will be available through English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d'Alene for those who wish to share condolences and memories.



Mike will be remembered as a loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. His legacy lives on in the laughter, stories, and memories shared by those who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who loved him.
