I showed up at Wagner College in the fall of 2017 having never worked a real job in basketball. Babul was the associate head coach at the time, and the team had lost their director of operations with only a couple of weeks until the beginning of the season. Babul and head coach Bashir Mason took a chance on me, a youthful, wide-eyed, absolute novice, to run the operations of a team with serious promise (one that produced three overseas professional basketball players, by the way). It was an unforgettable year filled with challenges and triumphs and set my life on a new trajectory.

Babul was with me every step of the way. He showed me the ropes, and was there to lend a hand every time I was in a bind. When I made too many mistakes and Bash didn't want to talk to me, Babul was the guy who held me up and mended the fence. In the years that followed, he'd call me out of the blue every few months to talk hoops and life. He was always so positive, so engaged, so passionate about the kids he coached. I have no doubt he did the same thing with countless others.

Babul was a mentor and a friend. I will always miss him, and I am so sorry to his friends and family for this tremendous loss. Rest in peace, Chief!

Mike Babel and I worked with one another at UTEP, he served as the Men´s Basketball Director of Operations during the Tony Barbee era. I am the Admin for that department and to this day I still would talk about him and how fun, kind and organized he was. I will never forget all the fun we had together and his smile. He used to call me Chica!! He will be missed so very much... May he rest in peace. Thank you Babel for making those years while you were at UTEP the best I ever had and you left me with tons of memories. To the Babel family, my prayers are with you.

Mike was a resident on my floor at JQA (Umass); I served as the resident assistant. Both Mike and his roommate were kind, friendly, and easy-going. Mike also had a great smile and demeanor. Wishing his family, friends, and other loved ones peace in the cherished memories.

Mike, was a class act as a person; a high end athlete as a basketball player & a friend, who brought the level of play in the Narragansett Basketball Leagues to strong credibility for many years. Rest in Peace Mike!

I want to thank you Mike for the greatest competition of my life. Competing against you and your brother Jon in Foxboro vs North Attleborro games was simply the BEST!!! We recently laughed about the good old ST John tournaments! I will be forever grateful to have had many recent conversations with you as adults reflecting on those battles. You were an absolute legend from this area and will always be remembered Foxboro thanks you for making us be better!!!
