Michael Charles Baldwin, a native resident of Watsonville, ended his journey on this earth September 2nd, 2025. Mike attended Aptos High School and Cabrillo College. Mike started his career in construction as a carpenter with his family business, Baldwin Construction. Mike had worked and retired from the City of Santa Cruz as a Sr. Building Inspector/Plans Examiner. After retiring Mike used his free time to create and write music with his brother from another mother, Mario. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren learning about videogaming, researching the latest technology, and shooting gophers in the backyard. Mike was a member of the Ohlone-Rumsen tribe and enjoyed researching local tribe genealogy. Mike leaves his wife of 53 years, Benita Baldwin (Urciaga), his children Joshua Baldwin (wife Kelly) and Bernadette Baldwin-Gates (husband Billy). He leaves behind his 4 amazing grandchildren Anya, Gavin, Gunner and Grady. He leaves his niece and nephew Dane Hassemer (wife Monica) and Niya Hassemer. Our family gives its deepest appreciation to his Stanford cancer team and Good Samaritan Hospital nursing staff. We thank the Watsonville Community Hospital ER staff. Their unwavering care addressed all aspects of well being. Better care and comfort cound not have been asked for.
