Deepest condolences to Danielle and Family. Thinking of you during this difficult time. Would like to share a memory from not so long ago.
Some of you may recall that Danielle and Michael took a trip to Lisbon in the Fall of 2019 (pre/Covid). Organized by our college class, we enjoyed 5 days packed with incredible seminars, visits to castles, churches, museums, shops, restaurants and entertainment (fado!). Michael could still walk at that time, but because of the need to speedily go from one event to another, Danielle decided to push him in a wheelchair. Several of us, every day, offered to handle the wheelchair. Each time, Danielle steadfastly refused. Those of you who have been to Lisbon may recall that many famous sites are situated on top of hills - accessible by long unpaved gravelly pathways. Shops and restaurants `in town´ are also on hilly terrain, with narrow sidewalks, and streets covered in cobblestone. Though sites near the shore are on flat land, that land is also covered by lots and lots of cobblestone. In other words, Lisbon is a wheelchair´s nightmare.
One warm afternoon, the bus let us off at the base of another museum. Again, the museum (a former castle) was atop a hill so steep and high it was unviewable from where we were. I looked up the long, rough gravelly path, mentally calculated it´s 20+ degrees grade, and decided this was a great time to take a break. Sitting, a little guiltily, at a small metal table with a Coca-Cola, I saw, out of the corner of my eye, Danielle whizzing by with Michael in wheelchair. She was gaining momentum, I guess, to get the wheelchair started up the hill. That was when I was struck by how strong they were. Danielle, not only incredibly physically fit, but in her determination to include Michael in everything she did. And Michael - so strongly wanting to share every interest and thought with Danielle. Over our recent breakfasts and dinners together, I´d often hear them discourse on what they had learned the previous afternoon or morning. Such rich internal lives they led! So rare - how much they shared. And so marvelous to witness. My heart goes out to you Danielle.

Dear Kate, Lonny, Shea, Ned, Danielle and Liz - you have our deepest condolences.
Katie, so many fond memories of time spent with you at your dad's beach house... And I recall a charming lunch with you and him at the Old Ebbit Grill... a kind and generous man.
We are wishing you and yours strength of heart, peace of mind and many joyful memories during this sad time.
Love, Maia and Scott
