Michael Basso, age 37 of Vernon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024, at the Newton Medical Center.
Born in Pequannock to Patrick Basso and the late Danielle Petrone, Michael has been a lifelong resident of Vernon. Dedicated to his country and his community, Michael volunteered with the Highland Lakes Fire Department and then joined McAfee Fire Department. He also served honorably in the National Guard before enlisting in the United States Army. Michael enjoyed history, cooking, and spending time in nature. He cherished the values of honor and duty, and will be remembered as someone who always put everyone else first.
Predeceased by his mother, Danielle Petrone, Michael is survived by his loving wife, Jessica Burdzy; brother Steven Basso and his wife Breann; father Patrick Basso and wife Dawn; as well as his niece and nephew Aleyla and Daniel; and his beloved dogs Kiba and Dante.
Visitation for Michael will be held on Monday, November 4th, 2024; 4-8PM at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home (One Vanderhoof Court for GPS), 241 Route 94, Vernon, NJ 07462. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 5th, 10AM at the funeral home. Burial in the Warwick Cemetery will follow. Online condolences may be offered through fergusonfuneralhomesnj.com
