Yesterday

I didn´t just lose a coworker or a friend this week - I lost my brother.
Mike and I first crossed paths at Robins AFB, working side by side as Nondestructive Inspectors on the C-130s. What started as a professional bond grew into one of the most meaningful relationships of my life. Over ten years, Mike became more than a friend - he became family. My kids even called him Uncle Baugh.
Mike was the kind of friend you spend your whole life hoping to find. We talked every single day - sometimes more than once - and every conversation left me better than before. He never told me what I wanted to hear. He told me what I needed to hear, and he did it with love. That kind of honesty is rare. That kind of loyalty is rarer still.
He approached every task, every challenge, and every season of life with cheerfulness and full effort. He never cut corners. He never gave less than everything. Whether it was the work in front of him or the people beside him, Mike showed up completely.
The world feels quieter without him in it. My phone feels heavier knowing I won´t hear his voice on the other end.
I´m gonna miss you, brother. Thank you for being exactly the friend I always hoped for - and so much more than I deserved.
