Michael J. Bonnett, 64, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, while battling esophageal cancer. He was Mike or Big Mike to family and friends.
Michael was born on September 26, 1960, in Fond du Lac WI, the second son and fourth child of Ronald and Beverly Bonnett. Michael was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale WI. He was a graduate of Laconia High School, Rosendale WI, Class of 1978, where he excelled at wrestling and played football. His name can be seen on awards in the trophy case.
In his early years, Michael participated in the WI DNR Conservation Youth Camp Program. Michael’s career also included laborer for Reabe Spraying Services, truck driver with Timblin Transit, Adams Transit, and Eden Stone, dump truck driver for Mike Albrecht, and machine/crane operator at Sadoff Iron & Metal Company 1995 - 2015. He was disabled and retired in 2015.
Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, grilling out, watching old westerns, car racing and the Packers, and being with family and friends. He especially enjoyed being with children and teaching gun safety.
Michael is survived by his siblings, Cindy Bonnett of Fond du Lac WI, Rick (Denise) Bonnett of Rosendale WI, Deb Waggener of Fond du Lac WI, and Beth Voskuil of Waupun WI; nieces and nephews, David (Heather) Waggener, Brittney (Cory) Zickert, Brenden (Jessica) Bonnett, Katie (Bryon) Schrank and Nick (Jana) Voskuil; great nieces and nephews, Jaylyn (Logan Birschbach) and Lauryn Waggener, Pierson and Quinnley Zickert, Greyson Bonnett, Harper (Roger Zipperer) Wurtz and Sage Bonnett, and Brynley Schrank; great-great nephew, Wesson Zipperer; step-great nephews, Nate (Alicia), Cole and Jack (Ava Bergelin) Zickert; step-great great niece, Wrenley; aunt, Vivian (Bonnett) Starr; uncle, Wes Bonnett; close cousin Shirley Muskevitsch; and many other cousins and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by parents, Ronald and Beverly (Soravia) Bonnett; grandparents, John and Hazel Soravia and Laverne and Margaret Bonnett; aunts, Sandy Soravia and Sandy Bonnett; and brothers-in-law, Roy Waggener and Steve Voskuil.
Mike was kind-hearted and could be as grumpy and stubborn as the day is long. He knew he was loved and will be greatly missed. Until we see you again Mike, love you! Give Mom and Dad a hug for us.
At Michael’s request, no services will be held. Cremation has taken place.
