Michael Eugene Chamness, 77, of Pittsburg passed away at 12:30 am in his home. He was born December 12, 1946, in Carbondale to Clydell and Phyllis (Marks) Chamness.
He graduated from Marion High School in 1965. He married Sue Chamness on December 27, 1995, in Ava and she preceded him in death on September 27, 2016.
Mike worked and retired in the coal industry. He was a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed spending time with his family playing cards on the holidays. He was a member of FFA and 4H and enjoyed showing horses and poultry. He enjoyed watching football and cheering for the Rams. He collected WWE figurines and hats.
Mike is survived by his three brothers, George Stephen Chamness of Johnston City, Jeffrey Paul Chamness of Marion, and Gregory Todd Chamness and wife Michelle of Crab Orchard. Granddaughter, Autumn Faith Norman. Nephews and nieces Paul Allen Chamness of Creal Springs, Jason Paul Chamness and wife Angela of Silverdale Washington, Janel Lea Chamness of Johnston City, Kasie Korin Ham and husband Ian of Marion, and Jessica Nicole Hill of Crab Orchard and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sue Chamness, two sons, Shawn Michael Norman and Timothy Michael Chamness and sister-in-law Martha Jennifer Chamness.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home located at 1704 North Court Street, Marion, Illinois. Funeral services will follow at noon. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. In lieu of flowers the family requests with gratitude that memorial donations be directed to the Shriner's Road Runner Program.
