Michael Anthony Charo

Michael Anthony Charo, affectionately known as Mike and Uncle Monkey, passed away on January 3, 2026, at the age of 58, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Michael was born on September 4 to Alejandro and Alicia Charo. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, musician, and friend whose life was marked by creativity, generosity, and deep faith.

Mike was a skilled handyman and AC repairman, graduating from Del Mar College in 2014 with a degree in air conditioning repair. He took pride in his work and was always willing to help others with his hands and his heart.

A working musician, Michael was passionate about music and the arts. He played bass and piano, and he was a gifted songwriter and poet. His creativity extended into writing, where he found joy as a science fiction writer and was in the process of completing his first Sci-Fi novel. Words, music, and imagination flowed naturally from him, and those who knew him were blessed by his abundance of talent and wit.

Michael was known for being kind, giving, expressive, and deeply passionate, especially when it came to music and faith. On the night he went to be with Our Lord, he shared how happy he was—filled with joy and peace—looking forward with hope to whatever came next.

Michael believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior. He trusted in God and longed to be in His presence, a faith that guided his life and comforted him at its close.

He is survived by his loving Parents , Alejandro and Alicia Charo siblings: Sister Claudette Charo-Nichols and her spouse, Rob Nichols; brothers Alex Jr. Charo and Russell Charo and his spouse, Rimie Charo. He was a devoted uncle to his three nephews, Noble Charo, Bryce Nichols, and Robert Nichols III, and his niece, Eleanor Arabella Nichols, all of whom he loved dearly.

A viewing and service will be held on Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Michael’s life was a song still playing, a story still unfolding, and a faith now fulfilled in the presence of his Savior. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
