Michael Roger "Mike" Clark, 66, of New Church, VA, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
Born the day before Christmas in 1958 in Wicomico, MD, Mike was the only son of Roger Samuel Clark and Elizabeth Ann Howard. Mike was a strong, handsome young man and played football for Chincoteague High School. He loved riding around on the back roads of the Shore listening to classic rock with his friends. Always a hard worker, Big Mike could fix just about any car. He worked as a mechanic and as a waterman, breaking his back to try to support his family. Kind and always willing to help, he would give the shirt right off of his back if you needed it. He opened his home up to many people throughout the years. Big Mike loved animals, especially his doggies, Rosie, Bandit, Serenity, Cricket #1, Cricket #2, and Pup. His greatest joy was found in being a father. He was a great Dad and was proud of his children. In his later years, he found great comfort just being at home and helping his family and neighbors. He leaves a hole in the community that will not ever be filled.
Big Mike is survived by his children, Michael Scott Clark (Ashlee Clark) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Brandy Lynne Clark of Atlantic, VA; grandchildren, Michael Scott Clark Jr., Michaelia Clark, Leelayna Clark, and Michalayana Clark; and special cousin and friend, James Fairchild; dear friends, Jessie and Helen Goodwin; several cousins and extended family members. Other than his parents, Mike was preceded in death by cousin, Randy Parks, (wife, Mary Ann Parks, and son, William Parks); and best friend, Johnny Thornton.
A Memorial Service to honor Mike's life will be held at Church By the Beach (5252 Woodland Drive, Chincoteague, VA 23336) on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Kevin Stanley officiating. A reception will be held at New Church Firehouse immediately following the service.
