Thank you, Mike, for every smile, every day.
Thank you, Mike, for greeting me every morning when I arrived super early to my Orcutt desk. You were my Old Faithful. I knew I would not be there alone.
Thank you, Mike, for saying my name, Arlene, in a way that was unique to you. It is a sweet memory, the sound of your voice.
Thank you, Mike, for sharing stories with me about your family and your life before KP.
Thank you, Mike, for your humility and grace. You demonstrated such class and charisma every moment of every day.
Thank you, Mike, for being an accepting, nonjudgmental friend. Your loyalty had no limit.
Thank you, Mike, for your marvelous sense of humor. Your dry, quick wit always surprised and delighted.
Thank you, Mike, for the privilege of being your friend. You were courageous, dedicated, loyal, brilliant, humble, caring, compassionate and so much more.
Wherever you are, please save me a seat. I hope I´ll be worthy to join you on the other side when my time comes.
You were and are dearly appreciated, loved and admired.
Thank you, Mike.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mike 13 years ago when I arrived at KP San Diego. He was a kind man and very knowledgeable. I could tell he was a pillar here at KP. Whenever I saw him he was pleasant and gave you a warm greeting. He will be missed.

Mike was my advisor for the first ever PI course at Kaiser. He showed me the basics of using charts to show my data and results. I could tell from the first day of meeting him that he was passionate about helping others and genuinely wanted to see you succeed. He always remembered me whenever we ran into each other and always took the time to chat about life. He would always remind me to take time to explore the world and find a passion. It's because of him that I made hiking our local trails a Saturday tradition with my wife. I will miss his kind soul and the advice he would always share. I know he's probably still working up in heaven at this very moment.

I have so many fond memories of Mike that it's hard to pick only one thing to sum up what he meant to me. Mike was a statistician's statistician. He taught me so much about math...I recall his lesson on "tukey charts" right before he donated his kidney to his brother.... since Mike was so seriously ill afterward, he equated his illness to the "3rd outer fence of a Tukey chart"! I told him that thanks to him I actually understood what he said! Mike knew how much I enjoyed learning from him.

I also remember our fond competition between my alma mater Washingon and his Purdue in the Rose Bowl. I had a beautiful purple velvet stocking with a purple rose in it next to a small sad little burlap stocking with a black rose it in hug on the fake fireplace in my office! Mike loved the teasing!

Mike was very quiet and humble at work about all he did for the community. His heart was so large and giving. Earth won't be the same without him.
