Michael Shawn Cooper

Michael Shawn Cooper, age 39, known to his family and friends as Shawn, passed away on October 10th 2025 in Memphis, Tennessee. He split his time in between his childhood home of Bartlett, Tennessee and his newly found home of Bradenton, Florida.

Shawn was born on April 20th, 1986 in Indianola, Mississippi. He was raised in Sunland, California and then moved, along with his family, to Bartlett, Tennessee when he was 11 years old. Shawn was a graduate of the Bolton High School Class of 2004. He attended the University of Memphis and then graduated from the National Association of Laser & Aesthetics in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Shawn will be forever missed by his mother, Connie Cooper Brewer, his father, Shayne Cooper, his younger brothers, Kevin and Derek, and his large extended family. He is predeceased by his grandmothers, Pinita Hodges and Mary Lou Cooper, and his grandfathers, James Hodges, John Cooper, and Dave Branam.

Shawn was a true renaissance man. From early childhood, he was recognized for his natural talent in multiple mediums of visual arts, such as sculpture, painting, and drawing. His artistic eye also led him to a deep appreciation of fashion, known as a true "sneakerhead" to those close to him. He excelled in a wide range of athletics: baseball, hockey, skating, dirt biking, skateboarding, and freestyle BMX.

A private memorial service will be held for his family and close friends in Memphis, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the SAFE Project.
