Dear Jessica and Gerald, I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing, but grateful that we were able to reconnect in Curaçao some years ago. I still vividly recall meeting Mike on the basketball court at UNC Charlotte as a freshman from the island and he took me under his wing and thought me so much. Mostly about having self confidence and not worrying what others think about you. I remember him winning the rap contest when he visited Curacao first in 1993. I was so impressed with how quickly he put those words together about his impressions of Curaçao, got up in front of the crowd and fearlessly sang his heart out and won it! Will always cherish these beautiful memories and valuable lessons .
Wishing you and the family much strength in dealing with this loss.

My sincerest condolences to the Copeland and Harris families. I've known Mike and Jessica a long time and they are two of the sweetest people you could ever meet. My prayers are with you, Bucci, as I know life will look different now. Bucci lean on the everlasting arms of the Lord and as long as you keep Mike in your heart he will forever be with you. I know you two have so many great memories that you can think on and smile. Love you!

I want to pass along my condolences to Jessica and the rest of Mike's family. Mike was the most unique individual I have ever met. So talented and so funny, there are so many fond memories of our time at UNCC. From Moore Hall to Colville there were so many good times spent with Jason, Larry, Hutch, Steve, Todd and Marc. And Mike was a big part of that. As I am writing this there are so many situations and little nuances related to Mike that bring laughter. His love of sports, basketball and of course MJ was well known. After I first met Mike, we would argue who was better Bird or Jordan because I am from Boston. As the years moved along, I clearly lost that argument and with each MJ title Mike would flash a smile and say "You like that right!" Mike would always talk about staying positive which is really important in today's world. Thank you for the great memories Mike! There will never be another Mike Copeland.

To the family, Mike was a long time friend and one of the most positive people I´ve ever met. If anyone needed a smile or encouragement, Mike could make it happen. We shared lots of good times and many good memories. Mike, you will be missed my friend. I love you my brother in Christ.
Jessica and Gerald, I love you both and pray that God will give you peace, comfort, and rest during this difficult time.
