Michael "Sonny" Cordero, a child of Christ, was born on June 16, 1973, and peacefully passed away on July 14, 2025. He majored in finance from USF, magna cum laude. He went on to help multitudes of clients in financial services and real estate in his 20s but his real passion was commercial real estate conciding with creation of business enterprises in this niche sector in his 30s. A man of gentle spirit, Sonny lived a life that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Sonny and his high school sweetheart, Jackie, shared a love story that spanned over 37 years (12 years in a committed relationship and 25 years married). Together, they built a life filled with laughter and devotion. As a father, Sonny poured his heart into raising his son, MJ Cordero-always present in his Brazilian jiu-jitsu training, football, wrestling, and, most importantly, his school studies.
Survived by his loving mother, Corazon, and his four brothers-Ruel, John, Chris, and Anthony-Sonny shared a deep bond with his family. His warm presence, acid wit, and genuine smile, especially during holidays and get-togethers, made him a cherished son, brother, and friend to many.
Sonny was a San Francisco 49ers fan first and foremost and will always be remembered as a die-hard supporter. He was also an avid San Francisco Giants fan. When his family moved to the East Bay in the early 2000s, his interest in the Golden State Warriors grew, eventually leading to them becoming season-ticket holders. His enthusiasm for sports was matched only by his ability to bring people together with his big smile and joyful spirit.
Sonny's legacy is one of love, laughter, and warmth. His kind heart left a deep mark on those fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in the hearts of all who were blessed by his presence.
