Michael Wayne Cox passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 76. Mike was the beloved husband of Donna Cox for 37 years.
Born July 22, 1949, Mike was the youngest child of the late Owen and Mary Cox. Mike was employed by Limitorque/Flowserve and retired from Belvac Production Machinery. Mike graduated from E.C. Glass where he was proud to be captain of the baseball team.
Mike is survived by his wife Donna and their three children and grandchildren. Krystal Tyree and her husband Casey, (Easton and Logan Michael). Quinton Michael Cox and his wife Sarah, (Levi Michael). Brandon Cox and his girlfriend Taylor.
Mike's children also cherish memories of their father, Michelle Cox, MaryBeth and Sam Morris (Bailey and Nathan Michael) and Pam Cox.
Mike is also survived by his siblings, Pat Ramsey (Bobby), Fred Cox (Marie) and Sandra Salmon (Wayne) along with many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Mike's brother and sister-in-law James and Sandy Clay and their sons Jake (Taylor) and Carson.
Mike never met a stranger and had many good qualities. A man who took care of his mother-in-law for over three years when her health was declining, in his home and watched over grandchildren from infants until his health declined this year.
Mike was an avid fan of the Redskins as he could never refer to his team as the Commanders.
The family wishes that all that would like to wear Washington attire or their colors to the service, please do so.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
