Michael S. Davenport, 54, of Phenix City, AL, formerly of Albany, GA, died October 22, 2024 at Piedmont Columbus Regional-Midtown. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Aaron McCulley will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, GA.
Michael was born in Albany, GA on May 15, 1970 to Herschel A. Davenport, Sr. and Jannie Faye Davenport. He grew up in Albany and Worth County and graduated from Worth County High School. After High School he lived in the Albany area most of his adult life and was employed with Sims Pest Control for thirteen years.
Michael moved to Phenix City, AL three years ago and was employed as an Optician for the Veterans Administration. He enjoyed golf and had two holes in one in his lifetime, one at Meadow Links Golf Course at George T. Bagby and one at Grand Isle Golf Course in Lee County. Michael also enjoyed Kayaking and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Davenport.
Survivors include his son, Austin (Shelby) Davenport of Worth County, GA, his siblings, Eydie (Rick) McDaniel of Albany, GA, Richard (Sandra) Davenport of Lee County, GA, Herschel Davenport, Jr of Albany, GA, Robert (Marsha) Davenport of Worth County, GA, Wesley (Pam) Davenport of Albany, GA and Joey (Andrea) Davenport of Lee County, GA, an honorary brother, Alan “Ish” (Angie) Wynn of Phenix City, AL and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
