Michael Davis

Michael Edward David Davis, a resident of Dallas, Oregon died on Monday, March 11th as a result of a motor vehicle accident near Crescent, Oregon where a semi-truck and trailer veered into his lane of traffic.
Michael was born on January 28, 1967, in Salem, Oregon, the son of Dr. Richard and Beverly Davis. Michael attended Monmouth Elementary School, Talmadge Middle School and graduated from Central High School in 1985. Michael attended Chemeketa Community College studying in the Fire Science Program. Michael had served as a volunteer firefighter in the Monmouth/Independence Fire Department for several years.
Michael married Kelly Hassler on November 9, 1990, at the United Methodist Church in Dallas, Oregon. Michael became an insured, licensed and bonded General Contractor in October of 1990 and founded K & M Pacific Construction. He built residential homes, commercial buildings, remodeled, laid cultured stone and tiled many kitchens and bathrooms. He loved learning new trades and often would take on projects just to see if he could perfect them. Michael was an avid salmon fisherman and passed that love on to his children. They spent many Fall weekends camping in Pacific City, Oregon fishing and giving away their catch to friends and family as Michael and the boys didn't really enjoy eating seafood.
Though Michael was a workaholic he supported his sons in baseball and scouting. He would come home from work to attend baseball games and scouting events with his children and then eat dinner and go back to work. Several times he led a team of Scouts and their parents in building award winning light parade floats for the Salem PGE Light parade and also won awards in local parades. Michael, his wife and kids enjoyed snow skiing, camping and boating on various lakes as often as they could break away from work and school.
Once their boys got a little older Michael and Kelly purchased the Anytime Fitness Dallas business in 2011. Later they purchased a 116-year-old building downtown. Michael remodeled it to be able to move the gym in to. Michael and Kelly felt such passion in trying to provide a safe, clean, happy space for people to exercise in and lead a healthier life in that they went on to acquire the Anytime fitness in La Pine, Albany and Stayton as several years went by. He loved meeting new people and getting to know everyone around him in the gyms.
They are a very close-knit family and vacationed with their parents and close friends during school and work breaks. As their children grew and started their adult lives in their own homes Michael and Kelly started traveling whenever possible. They traveled by car, plane and cruiseship, loving every moment they had exploring and experiencing new adventures together. Last Spring they became certified scuba diver's and had a list of locations they were excited to go explore.
Michael adored his grandchildren. Quite often you could find him on the floor playing with them as babies. As they got older he loved taking them outdoors teaching them to pound a hammer, cast a rod, ride a bike, and most important how to drive Nama and their parents nuts!
He is survived by his wife, Kelly, sons, Jason (Jessica), Brandon, Alex (Pennie),
grandchildren: MacKynzie, Kole, Waylon, Clark, Abigail, Jacey, Mathew, and two grand-babies due very soon, mother, Beverly, sister, Wendy. Michael was preceded in death by his daughter Katey Davis in 1992, mother-in-law, Pam Hassler in 2022 and father, Dr. Richard Davis in 2023.
