Michael Edward Desposito died peacefully at home with family by his side in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on March 10, 2023, at the age of 102.
Michael is survived by his son Michael and wife Linda of Lake Ronkonkoma New York, his son Daniel and wife Janice of Louisa Virginia, his daughter Patricia and husband Steven of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and a daughter-in-law Lori Desposito of Broken Arrow Oklahoma.
He is survived by 10 Grand Children, 24 Great Grand Children, 8 Great-Great Grand Children and 1 on the way.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 76 years. His son Joseph M. Desposito, brothers John and Peter, his sisters Josephine, Irene, Mary, Dorothy, and Helen. One brother and one sister which died at birth.
Michael was born to Joseph Desposito and Irene Flynn of New York City, New York on March 5, 1921.
Michael graduated from Commerce High School in New York City, New York in 1940. Michael joined the Marines on September 25, 1942, reaching the rank of Technical Sergeant at US Marine Corp. Air Station, Mojave, California.
Michael served in Samoa, Efate's New Hebrides, Guam, Mariania Island South Pacific. Michael was Honorably Discharged on December 6, 1946.
After the war Michael was employed with the New York Police Department (NYPD). He rose to the rank of Sergeant and retired on August 25, 1964, after 21 years of loyal service.
Michael and Ann, along with 2 of their 4 children, moved to Rio Rancho New Mexico in August 1969. Michael was hired at Albuquerque National Bank (Bank of America) in August 1969 and worked there until he retired in 1982.
Michael belonged to numerous organizations: New York Cub as President, Retired Law Enforcement Association, American Legion, and he was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church since 1969.
