Michael M. Devaney, age 93, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Cambridge Manor. Born in Lenadoon Point, County Sligo, Ireland, he was the cherished son of the late Patrick and Katie Devaney. Michael immigrated to the United States in 1959 and enjoyed a long, dedicated career as a truck driver, retiring as a proud lifelong member of the Teamsters Union.

Michael was a beloved member of the Fairfield community and was actively involved with the Gaelic American Club of Fairfield. He was a former member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, John F. Kennedy Division 1, the Knights of Columbus, St. Patrick’s Council, and the Saugatuck Power Squadron, through which he shared his deep love of Irish culture, faith, and fellowship.

He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Terry; his beloved daughter, Rosemary; his brother, John; and his sister-in-law, Lolly. He is survived by his loving niece, Mary Devine, and her husband Paul Devine and their children Donal, Emma and Daire, his nephew, Michael Devaney, as well as many cherished cousins in the United States and Ireland.

Michael will be fondly remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the ever-present sparkle in his eye. He found joy in good company and a wonderful meal at the Castle of Black Rock, where his favorite dish was the Seafood Medley. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, heartfelt conversations, and a quick wit that endeared him to many. He will be deeply missed by his friends, loved ones, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Rd., Fairfield. The mass will be livestreamed. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, November 18th from 4-6 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
