Michael Sean Dolan, died on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, in Staunton. He was 61. Michael, known to most as Mike, was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1964.
He was an adventurer, traveler, and free spirit. He traveled all over Europe, spent time throughout the western and southwestern United States, including several trips through the Grand Canyon on the Colorado River, and surfed in Nags Head and Buxton, North Carolina. He lived in many places over the years, including London, Oregon, Colorado, the Outer Banks, and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, but always returned to the place he loved most - Central Virginia.
Mike graduated from Tandem High School and attended Southern Oregon University. He loved to work with his hands, spending most of his adult life in the construction business. He loved watching football, especially the Redskins, river rafting and tubing, music, hiking, surfing, and, most of all, fishing.
Above all, Mike was a loyal friend, a great storyteller, and a memorable presence. He had many friends who will miss him deeply, and his memory will live on through the stories and smiles of those who loved him.
He is survived by his brother, Patrick Dolan; his sister, Kelly Lippard; and his half-sister, Rebecca Dolan. He is also lovingly remembered by his nephews, Wade Lippard and Theo Dolan, and his niece, Evie Dolan.
A remembrance will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 in Charlottesville. More details will follow when arrangements are finalized.
