Michael Dykes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Iles Norwalk Chapel on Mar. 31, 2026.
Michael Christian Dykes was born on December 25, 1966, and passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2026, after a strong and courageous battle with stomach cancer.

Mike grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve his country. Following his honorable discharge, Mike moved around and lived in several places, including Tucson, Arizona, and Houston, Texas. Eventually, he returned to Iowa and settled in Davenport. Several years later, he began a long-term relationship with his significant other, Jean Higgins, and the two shared 12 wonderful years together. In 2016, Mike moved to Norwalk to live with Jean.

Mike and Jean loved to travel and went on many adventures together. They especially enjoyed visiting Savannah, Illinois, and recently took a trip to Garden of the Gods in Colorado. Mike was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Iowa Hawkeyes, attending as many games as he could with friends and loved ones.

Mike loved spending time with his friends and family. His favorite people to be with were his son, Joseph Dykes, and his bonus children, who knew him as Dad: Fawn Bright, Cierra Skoland, and Lu Higgins. Mike was the kind of person who would do anything he could for those he loved. He was also known for his great sense of humor and his love of classic dad jokes, which he shared often with family and friends.

Mike loved his siblings, Lorraine, Teri, Sammy, Carolee, and Dana, and held dear the memory of his sister Jeannie. He also cherished his many nieces and nephews.

Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
