Michael Lynn Ellis

Michael Lynn Ellis, known affectionately to friends and family as Mike, passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 77 from complications due to brain injury. Born in the heart of Texas in San Angelo on January 4, 1949 and a long-time resident of the Austin Texas area for over 60 years. Mike was a man of intelligence, generosity, kindness and analytical prowess. He is survived by his wife Paula, their Golden Retriever Abby, sister Linda, brother-in-law Jeff and nieces and nephews Caroline, Ernie and Heidi.
Mike was a proud Longhorn of The University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on Technology. His education was the foundation for a successful career spanning over four decades in the technology industry. His colleagues remember him as a mentor and a friend, someone who was always willing to share his knowledge and lend a helping hand.
Outside of his professional life, Mike was an adventurer at heart. He had an insatiable love for travel and learning new things, sailing on Lake Travis and running the Hike and Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake and the River Place Trail.
Above all, Mike cherished the time he spent with his family, friends and beloved Golden Retrievers. He had a unique ability to make every individual in his life feel valued and loved. His generous spirit and wise counsel will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
In reflecting on Mike's life, a friend shared "We loved and respected Mike so much and feel privileged for all the years of friendship." His legacy is one of kindness, dedication and a life well-lived.
A Memorial Celebration will be planned in the Spring.
