Michael Kyne Emanuel, lovingly referred to as "Big Mike," peacefully passed away on December 17, 2024. He was born on March 9, 1971, in Detroit, Michigan, to Shirley Emanuel and the late James Emanuel. Michael graduated from Oak Park High School in 1989, where he excelled as an athlete, participating in varsity football and wrestling.
After high school, Michael attended Hampton University in Virginia and later continued his education at Wayne State University in Detroit. He went on to have a distinguished 26-year career with Chrysler Corporation.
Known as a gentle giant with a warm, infectious smile, Michael had a kind heart and a sharp wit that could light up any room. His sense of humor, a hallmark of the Emanuel family, brought joy and laughter to everyone around him. Michael was an avid reader who enjoyed playing Scrabble and had a special fondness for online Monopoly. He loved to travel, particularly on cruises and trips to Las Vegas, where he frequently visited his favorite casino, The Cosmopolitan.
Music was a significant passion in Michael's life. He had a immense appreciation for artists such as Prince, Whitney Houston, and New Edition, but none compared to his deep admiration for Janet Jackson. In addition to his love for music, he was an avid sports fan, admiring athletes like Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Muhammad Al and the University of Michigan football.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother, Shirley Emanuel; his three siblings, David (Lisa), Keith, and Cheryl; his niece Jasmine; his great-niece Emari and great-nephew Enzo; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
