Michael "Mike" F. Weiss, born on August 21, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania passed away on April 21, 2024, in Lineville, Alabama.
Mike graduated from Montour High School in Pennsylvania and Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Florida. He was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps. Mike exemplified a commitment to excellence that would become a hallmark of his life.
After serving his country, Mike continued his selfless service as a proud member of the St Lucie County Fire Department for 26 years and Fire Chief of Woodland Fire Department. His passion for helping others extended beyond his professional life as he dedicated 24 years to coaching and serving as president of the PSLAA youth program. Mike's unwavering commitment to the youth and families of St. Lucie County earned him the prestigious Medallion of Excellence from the Florida State Senate, a testament to the profound impact he had on those around him.
Beyond his professional and volunteer endeavors, Mike found joy in simple pleasures like hunting, fishing, and caring for his beloved pasture animals. He was an avid motorcycle rider and found camaraderie as the President of the Red Knights motorcycle club in Alabama. A devout member of Bear Creek Methodist Church, Mike's faith was an integral part of his life.
Above all else, Mike cherished spending quality time with his family and immersing himself in the beauty of the great outdoors.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Weiss of Woodland, AL; children, Michael D. Weiss (Rachelle) and their children, Jheri Weiss, and Marissa Weiss, of Fort Pierce, FL and daughter, Kristen Cheston (Robert) and their children, Kolbey Cheston & Berkley Cheston, of Winter Haven FL; brother-in-law, Ray Kollar (Susan), of The Villages, FL; and sister-in-law, Vicki Anderson (Craig), of Land O' Lakes, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Thelma Weiss and siblings, Leonard Weiss and Mary Beth Weiss.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Bear Creek Methodist Church, 23980 AL-48 Woodland, AL 36280. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Haisley Funeral Home.
