Thinking of Mike as I often do; and thinking of his loved ones. He was such a dear person.

I have such fond memories of Mike. We met when we were 12 years old and became good friends. After college, we lost touch for a while, then reconnected through mutual friends. We lost touch again, however, I thought of him very often. He wasn't on Facebook, which is how I reconnected with many of our old friends. Mike was one of the sweetest men I have every met. I am beating myself up because I hadn't known that Mike was ill. Had I known, I would have been there for him. My heart breaks for his family. He was always such a gentle soul. Though I hadn't seen him in a long time, I have always held him close to my heart and will continue to do so even though he's no longer with us.

I was unpacking a bag of limes
last week & Mike popped into mind.
I was reflecting on his past love of vodka gimlets. Back before the days of children, we would socialize quite a bit. I always had gimlet ingredients on hand. Mike was always a lot of fun.
He & Sharon convinced me to go on my first camping experience with them. Mike was directing us like the coach he was. Half of us staking tents, the other half foraging firewood. It was a hilarious weekend. One amongst many. He always could make a good time better!
My deepest condolences to his family & friends.
