Michael Fisher Obituary

MICHAEL K. FISHER
March 6, 1943 ˜ May 23, 2023

Michael K. Fisher, born March 6, 1943 to James K. and Louise Luck Fisher in Baker, OR, passed away on May 23, 2023, at his home in Vancouver, WA, following a stroke.

His family moved to Aurora, IL, when he was a child and he graduated from West Aurora High School. His high school highlight was catching the winning touchdown pass in the district finals. Following graduation he joined the United States Navy, serving four years before being honorably discharged.

He returned to the Pacific Northwest after his marriage to Mary Kaye Thomas Fisher, his wife of 52 years. The Pacific Northwest was truly his home. He loved the outdoors, hiking and gardening.

Mike and Mary Kaye settled In Ridgefield, WA. Ridgefield is where they raised their two sons, Brian K. and Adam Thomas Fisher. During the 1980’s and 90’s Mike was a familiar parental figure and volunteer in school activities and sporting events. Many stories from those times involve Mike supporting kids to succeed and also calling them out on questionable behavior.

Mike’s work life was diverse. He graduated from Clark College with a Sous Chef’s degree and worked in several restaurants and also as a successful superintendent for asphalt paving companies. His hobbies and interests were as diversified as his work life. His fascination with rocks, minerals and crystals were a constant source of pleasure for him.

Mike and Mary Kaye traveled extensively. Their preference was for tropical locations and he had many tall tales to tell about their adventures. He shared his love of travel with their sons, their daughter-in-law Shantee Fisher and their three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Aiden and Payton Fisher.

He loved to spend time with family and friends, yell loudly at the TV during Seahawks games and passionately worked in his flower garden at home.

He cared deeply for the welfare of others. Those who wish may follow his example and donate to The Clark County Food Bank.
