MICHAEL FLANAGAN Obituary

FLANAGAN, Michael Patrick Died peacefully at his home, in Milton, on January 21, 2025, after a valiant three-year battle with bladder cancer. He was 63 years old. Born and raised in Dearborn, MI, Michael later moved with his family to Newton, where he attended Catholic Memorial High School. After graduating from Northeastern University, Michael began his career at Coopers & Lybrand, became a CPA and enjoyed a lengthy career in accounting and finance. At the time of his death, he was Vice President of Accounting at Sage Therapeutics. Michael was a passionate hockey player, playing the sport from childhood into adulthood. He continued his love for athletics on the golf course and ski slopes. Michael was a long-time member of Wollaston Golf Club, served as Treasurer, and deeply valued his community there. He also cherished many summers spent in Sagamore Beach, Brewster and Falmouth. A lover of travel, his adventures took him to many places, including favorites like Utah, Ireland, Italy and Thailand. Above all, his greatest love was for his family and friends. Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen Claire (Kingston) Flanagan; his loving son, Thomas Kingston Flanagan; his siblings, William Flanagan and his wife, Abigail, Ellen Stanton and her husband, Paul, Susan Ferrera and her husband, Jim and Maureen McCabe and her husband, Bob; brother-in-law of the late Paula Lane and Tom Lane, Ann McDonough and her husband, Brian; and his proud and loving nieces and nephews, AJ (Hannah), Joseph (Catherine), James and Colin Ferrera, Lizzie, Ellie, Jim and Billy McCabe, Patrick and Kevin McDonough and Tom (Sarah), Conor and Victoria Lane, Gordy (Stephanie) and Stephen (Stacie) Stanton; grandnephews, Jack and Leo Ferrera, Conall Stanton and grandniece, Claire Stanton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Visitation Parish, Saint Elizabeth Church, 350 Reedsdale Road, Milton, on Wednesday, January 29, at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting Hours will be held at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, on Tuesday, from 4–8 PM. Interment will follow at Milton Cemetery.
