I have a fond memory from the first time I met Michael. He had travelled with Bonnie Reyna to meet with us at Miss Shirley´s classic breakfast joint in Baltimore. We were there to discuss a potential collaboration between the Quest Diagnostics Foundation (aka Quest for Health Equity) and Baltimore CONNECT, the non-profit network of community-based organizations that I directed at the time. He was warm, natural, easy-going and positive. He listened attentively to our needs and helped us work out a plan. This set us on course over the next year to co-develop a successful grant proposal. The funding allowed an evolutionary leap for our organization - as a result of the collaboration we were able to hire our first executive director as well as direct regrants to 12 of our member organizations. He was catalytic and crucial to our progress. I always looked forward to our meetings. I am sad that we will not be able to work together in the future. Our success is part of his legacy.

Warmest regards from the team at Baltimore CONNECT, Inc
