Michael L. Foutz, 66, of Horseshoe Bay, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Mike was born February 11, 1958, in Arlington, TX to Mr. Robert Eugene Foutz and Imagene Foutz. He was a graduate of Odessa Permian High School, Class of 1976. He attended Odessa College. He married the love of his life, Janice Legg Foutz on January 11, 1983, in Las Vegas, NV.
Mike was involved in numerous sports committees including announcing Odessa College basketball games for many years as well as high school football games. He was passionate about coordinating the Special Olympics track meets for decades and spent numerous hours volunteering at these events. He retired from the Ector County Appraisal District in 2019, after 28 years of service. Prior to his time at ECAD, he worked with Sims & Guess Realtors where he developed a passion for real estate.
Mike was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of music, movies, sports, and other interesting random facts. He enjoyed talking all-things-sports with his grandson. If you knew Mike, you would know he was the most entertaining and charismatic person to anyone who crossed paths with him. He was extremely witty and humorous and shared laughter with everyone; especially his lifelong friends. He was always the “life-of-the-party” and a captivating storyteller. Above all, Mike’s biggest passion was spending time with the love of his life, Janice.
Mike Foutz is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Janice; his son and adoring daughter-in-law, David and Jessica Boxley of Pflugerville, TX; and grandsons, Hudson Michael Boxley and Mason Robert Boxley of Pflugerville, TX; sisters, Laura Foutz and Leigh Foutz of Mineral Wells, TX; brother and sister-in-law, James Legg and Lisa Legg of Lubbock, TX; nieces and nephews, Amanda and Tim Babcock of Odessa, TX and Angela and Brian Shrum of Odessa, TX and Sam and Candice Legg of Lubbock, TX; cousins, Tracy Elston and Tami Fuller of Garland, TX; and many beloved great nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by many lifelong & genuine friends whom he enjoyed many memories with.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Imagene Foutz and father Robert Eugene Foutz.
