Michael Dean Franklin, Sr.

Michael Dean Franklin, Sr., of Cross Hill, husband of Mary Franklin, passed away, Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Self Regional Healthcare. 

Born January 21, 1953, in Clinton, SC, he was a son of the late LJ Franklin and Viola Lark Franklin. Michael was a skilled carpenter, former volunteer fireman at the Cross Hill Fire Department, and past Master Mason of the Cross Hill Lodge # 159. He had a passion for hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles. 

Michael is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary, and their children, Michael D. "Mike" Franklin, Jr. (Lisa), Matthew Franklin (Brittany), Marshall Franklin (Dee), Michelle Barnett; his grandchildren raised in the home, Kristerpher Barnett and June Turner (Justin Nash); his brothers, Donnie Franklin, Raymond Franklin, Roger Franklin and Barry Franklin; his sister, Sherry Hitchcock; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; one great-great grandchildren; and his nephews, Thomas Barnett and Timothy Franklin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Luther Franklin, Tommy Franklin, and Jo Ann Franklin.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM. Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memory Gardens. 

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
