Michael S. Geschel, 63, a longtime resident of Roscoe, IL, passed away January 18, 2026. He was born November 14, 1962, in Rockford, IL.
Michael, known to many as Mike, was a graduate of West High School, Class of 1980, and later attended Rock Valley College. Throughout his life, he worked in various roles that allowed him to utilize his creative abilities and skills, including positions at the Byron Nuclear Plant, Weldments, Lifting Gear Hire, and The Caldwell Group, Inc.
Mike was a devoted car enthusiast and enjoyed sports, spending time outdoors, listening to music, and being with his two sons, the lights of his life. Mike was also a talented craftsman and could build anything he set his mind to. He had a pleasant singing voice and even shared his talent by singing at a friend’s wedding. Known for his great sense of humor, Mike lived life loud and proud and brought laughter and energy to those around him.
He is survived by his mother, Karen Stebbins; his sons, Nathan M. Geschel and Aidan R. Geschel; his devoted friend and mother of Aidan, Theresa Gibbons; his sister, Natalie James (Dennis); and his nephew, Jason Schick (Danielle).
He was preceded in death by his father, Monte Geschel, and his stepfather, Marley Stebbins.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held in the warmer months, with details to be announced at a later date.
Donations are not expected; prayers are gratefully welcomed. For those who wish to give, contributions may be made to a memorial fund established for Mike’s younger son, Aidan, to be administered by his older son, Nathan.
