Michael F. Gibbons

EDGERTON/SCHAUMBURG, IL--- Michael Gibbons, age 53, of Edgerton, formerly of Schaumburg, IL, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. He lived with cancer for many years never allowing it to define his life. He was born in Chicago, IL on Feb. 27, 1957, the son of Francis and Janet (McGuire) Gibbons. He lived in Schaumburg, IL for most of his life and moved to Edgerton 3 years ago. Michael married his high school sweetheart, Dianna Wolski on May 7, 1978, in Hoffman Estates, IL, and was the owner of M. Gibbons Construction Inc. He was a lifelong member of St. Hubert's Catholic Church, Hoffman Estates, IL. Mike was a carpenter by trade, but to those who really knew him, he was a man of many talents far beyond carpentry. He was a potter and artists of stained glass. He also was a man of few words but had a deep and loving heart. He tried to teach his kids how to live a good life by example and was deeply loved by them. He enjoyed motorcycling and the outdoors. He was a renaissance man of today's era. Michael was a true family man. He loved spending time with his 2 best friends his sons. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Dianna Gibbons; 2 sons, Mike and Matt Gibbons all of Edgerton; mother, Janet Gibbons; 4 sisters: Linda (Rick), Marilyn (Ed), Colleen (Garry) and Kathy (Rich); a brother, Tom (Cindy); sister-in-law, Cynthia Wolski; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis; mother-in-law, Joan; and father-in-law, Jerry. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at ST. HUBERT'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Hoffman Estates, IL with Rev. John Guiney officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael's The Archangel Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME, Janesville, WI. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society.
