Michael Van Goble

Michael V. Goble Sr., a devoted husband, father, and decorated veteran, passed away on Sunday December 21st, 2025 at the age of 77. A man of strong character and hard work, Mike left an indelible mark on his family and those who knew him.
A Life of Service and Dedication.
Mike was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, serving his country with honor and courage. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to a career in the coal industry. He retired as a Blasting Foreman for A.T. Massey (Martin County Coal), where he was respected by his colleagues for his expertise, leadership, and work ethic.
Beyond his professional life, Mike's greatest legacy was his 55-year marriage to his beloved wife, Judy Lazar Goble. He left this world holding her hand. Together, they built a life rooted in loyalty and family, celebrating more than five decades of partnership.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Rodney and Dickie Goble.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his wife, Judy; his son, Michael V. Goble II and his wife Jade; and his five grandchildren: Tate Goble (Samantha), Katie Blanton (Zach), Kennedy Allen (Griffin), USN Petty Officer 3rd Alex Spencer, and Peyton Goble. He also leaves behind his great-grandchild, Theodore Goble, who brought a special light to his later years. He was always eager to attend any event or adventure his grandchildren would propose.
A service to honor Michael's life and military service will be held 1pm, Tuesday, December 23, 2025 Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, KY with visitation from 11am-1pm. Burial will follow in East Gate Memorial Gardens, Eastern, KY. In honor of his service to his country, the family suggests donations be made to his local DAV Chapter.
