Michael Golia Obituary

Michael Golia
Michael Golia, 73, of Guilford, CT passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on August 17, 2021.
He was born in New Haven on December 14, 1947, a son of the late Sevio and Mary Crisci Golia. Mike is survived by his three sons Scott (Danielle) Craig of Wallingford, Damon (Amy) Glia of Portland, TX and Chris (Sherri) Golia of Loris, SC. He was predeceased by his son Michael Golia, Jr. and his brother Dominic Golia. While Mike loved golfing, teaching children and giving back to the community, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren Alyssa, Briana and Caitlyn.
Mike was Vice Principal of Cooperative Community High School and Christopher Columbus Academy. He taught at Gateway Community College and was a math teacher at Nathan Hale. Mike also owned a printing and dress shop, Golia Enterprises, for 35 years in New Haven.
Mike loved his family unconditionally and wouldn't think twice about lending a hand to anyone, no questions asked. He will be missed by all who knew him. His family would like to thank the nurses at Connecticut Hospice and his caregiver Ashleigh Soper.
Visiting hours will be Monday morning August 23, 2021, from 8:30-11:30 in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Place, New Haven. Mikey, I love you like my brother.....we had wonderful times together......fishing, Yankee games, Orange Bowl trips, golfing, brie cheese in the ticket booth, having Chinese food with a plate on your head.....even when your boat broke down in Branford and the fire department was waiting for us.
OMG I am so pleased we spoke on your last night, your eyes told me everything. I know your message, I know what you were saying. I will tell it to all that will listen, your friends.
You are free now!
Our memories of fun and laughter can never be taken away. My heart hurts now that you are gone, but you are free now. Love you brother

To Mike's family,

It was my pleasure to know and enjoy the company of Mike Golia. Always a warm smile and a true concern for the health/welfare of his fellow man.

I worked with Mike in the NHPS system for many years and experienced the love that he had for the students/families he serviced during his years as a school administrator.

Mike always made those around him feel comfortable and at ease. He truly made his mark in the NHPS system and helped so many students achieve their goals.

Please know that Mike and his family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
